What’s your full name?
David Christopher Marasigan
Where do you live?
Vancouver, Canada
Do you have any siblings?
Yes I have one brother, Joel Marasigan. He’s also a ballroom instructor and you can usually see us both teaching at Broadway Ballroom at the same time. If you’re curious, you can check him out online at: www.jcdanceco.com Since everyone asks… No, our parents do not dance but have been very supportive of our endeavours.
What is your education?
Years and years of ballroom dance lessons of course! In addition I’ve graduated from the Electronics and Computer Engineering program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. So yes, I’m a really big tech geek as well.
Do you have any jobs other than teaching dance?
Yes I do! I also run ballroom competitions in partnership with two other ballroom professionals. Our main event call the Vancouver Challenge Cup happens once a year in January and takes a full year of promotion, organizing, and planning to pull off. You can check us out online at: www.vancouverchallengecup.com
In addition, I’m also a professional photographer. I just can’t get away from the arts! Many people know me as just a dancer, or just a photographer, but not both. Over the years I’ve honed my skills behind the lens and now shoot portraits, weddings, and commercial work. If you’re interested in a wedding package that includes dance and photography let me know! Are there any other activities you enjoy doing?
I love the outdoors and you can find me out and about in the summer playing volleyball at the beach with friends, or in the winter ripping down the ski slopes. I love to cook as well and enjoy great food. Living in around Vancouver spoils you to such a wide variety of world class cuisine.
